The PNNL Chemical Management System

The Pacific Northwest Laboratory (PNL), a multi program national laboratory with a variety of laboratory facilities, has developed a chemical management system. 
  • PNL's Chemical Management System (CMS) documentation is provided.

  • The CMS is composed of five modules: 
    1. Chemical Purchasing 
    2. Chemical Inventory 
    3. Chemical Names, Properties, and Hazardous Groups 
    4. Reporting 
    5. System Manager 

Material Safety Data Sheets

  • MSDS Search is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive single source of information related to Material Safety Data Sheets.  This site is a conduit between users of MSDSs and any reliable supplier.  Currently this site provides access to 350,000 MSDSs from more than 1100 manufacturers, 700,000 MSDSs from public access databases, links to MSDS software, service, training and product providers, links to Government MSDS information, and more.

  • Material Safety Data Sheets are required by OSHA Regulations, specifically OSHA Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200).

  • MSDS Central of the Chemical Manufacturers Association is an electronic service which provides access to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). The database serves as a secure, central repository for the industry and contains only manufacturer supplied MSDSs. It includes MSDSs from all kinds of industry companies and allows for electronic downloads. The database is compiled and maintained by the Chemical Manufacturers Association (CMA).

    Cornell University has just opened a full-fledged mirror of hazard.com. This site contains all of the hazard.com MSDSs and the data base of MSDSs maintained by the Department of Defense Data. The 325,000+ MSDS sheets are indexed and available at: http://msds.pdc.cornell.edu/issearch/msdssrch.htm In addition, on this page you will find an inventory of 60,000+ chemicals listed with the Toxic Substances Control Act (TCSA), and links to other OSHA web sites. Thanks to Cornell for providing this service.
